Default Unknown orchid a cut flower

Hi

This flower was included in a bunch of cut flowers. Florist told my wife it was an orchid.

Any ideas?

Regards

John

It doesn't look like an orchid to me! Don't know what it is, though. Sorry!

It isn't an orchid. Orchid flowers don't have pistils and stamens like that. I'm not sure what plant that is.

It's not an orchid, the common name is Pineapple Lily. It belongs to the genus Eucomis.

It is a South African bulb.

Don't know if it's a hybrid involving Eucomis bicolor or if it actually is Eucomis bicolor.

Apparently they're fly pollinated.
