It does look a lot like a mule ear type oncidium. If you look at a Psychopsis which used to be an Oncidium you'll see the resemblance with the short roundish pseudobulbs and the pointy leaf. I'm more inclined towards it being an oncidium now that you mentioned it.

i appreciate your thoughtfulness to reply. yes, i see what you mean about similarities with the psychopsis. i'll just relax about it for now and wait for the bloom(s)--thank you!!

Thanks for the compliment Most of my knowledge has come from this forum and the friends I've made and my curiosity to want to know more and then from the local orchid societies ( I belong to 5) I'm probably one of the younger members if not the youngest in them but you learn a lot from the rest of the growers. Now all we can do is wait and see what happens. Treat it like an Oncidium from now on and wait for blooms.
