Looking again I agree with Renanthera. Your flowers reminded me of a memory of a pic of a yellowy orange flower with red spots and when I found the Mokara pic it seemed to fit.

I was actually thinking of this one which is Renanthera monachica.

Renanthera monachica

Hi folks.

As promised, here's a pic of this with fully opened flowers.

It's certainly got a large presence in the shadehouse.

Cheers,
Aus.

Probably put the name: Renanthera imshootiana, on the plant now we can see the flowers properly.
Very nice.

Hi folks.

I apologise for my lack of replies but I've been really busy with work. But I was talking to the chap I got this from the other day. He's "not into" labels but during the phone call he said he called it imshootiana. Now, knowing the labels this guy writes, I'm still a bit iffy but I've just got to go with Roy's call on this one. And yes, my life would be a lot easier if he'd just have told me when I got it, but this is the guy that labels his plants "droopy pink" or, even more useful, "no name". That's it, "no name". Why even waste a label?!?!?

And...the cross-self worked on this plant and I have three seed pods on it presently (one will be removed in the near future, leaving two in case of insect attack, as I always like one spare at least). And, after selfing, I tried to cross this with the following which was out at the time:

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...e-species.html

The Renanthera as seed parent worked. The Aerides as seed parent didn't. So...it could be a perfumed cross, I guess. One of the plants, anyway, if I can keep them all alive and pick the best. If I can get them to grow at all, too. Many years will pass and maybe something good will happen. And it's all fun.

Cheers,
Aus.
