Hi Louise,
I found out this plant is called Phal. Anthura San Lorenzo. The nursery I got it from must have bought seedlings from Anthura.nl
San Lorenzo is only a growers name. I can call them back after 1 pm to speak with one of the "Phal. men" and he might have more information for me. If anny new information, you'll read that here.

Again I was surprissed with the willingness to help me out!

Hello Nicole,

Thanks for the info
I still have a sticker on my pot saying San Lorenzo and the steaker is in deutsch. I guess you are right for the Anthura, something that reminds me of a phal called Liodoro. In fact this San Lorenzo is slightly scented too. I know mine comes from deutchland so I guess it might come from the same breeder as yours.

I found the plant in the Anthura catalogue, but there's no variety name listed for it, unlike some of their other phals. Have you seen the catalogue? There hundreds of phals!
If you can't get any info, I might be able to pull some strings for you. I know of a phal breeder who I think works at Anthura. He used to be a student in Wageningen not that many years ago, and one of my professors who knows my orchid obsession gave me his email address to contact him about job opportunities in the orchid world.

What've understood is that Anthura develops new crosses and sells seedlings and young plants to nursery's that want to grow them.

I just had a conversation with one of the Phalaenopsis people from Anthura and he was not willing to avail anny information. In fact he said that it was against their policy to share information about the parents of their products, which I can understand . Despite I said I'm a hobby grower, he asumed I was a commercial grower. I tried again and asked if it has bellina in it's parentage but he said he didn't know. One person would be able to tell me (the one involved in developing crosses), but also said this person probably wasn't waiting for/interested in this kind of questions . I could have asked to give me that person on the phone so I could find out myself, but I noticed he was not verry happy with me asking questions about their product, so I decided to throw the towel in the ring.

They are sending me their catalogue and Phalaenopsis poster (wall decoration in the plant room that I'm going to build).

I write NOID on the label and in my files I'll make a note it could be Anthura San Lorenzo. That's it :-) but at least I tried :-)

Nicole
