Grandma's Orchids - Orchid Board

Long Story Short.
My Significant Other's grandmother was well known in her area for her orchids.
She passed away in 2002. A year later Significant Other's sister took a trip to their grandmother's house and brought back six of her orchids. She planted them and two died. She un-potted them and did I don't know what but they survived. Them she gave them to Significant Other. He took the last four and planted them in soil. (Yes, I know. I can hear all of you screaming 'MURDERER' now!)
One died, so I took the remaing three to my local orchid nursery and the owner was kind enough to repot the remaing two. The third was D.O.A. He gave the last two a 50/50 chance of surviving because of the 'soil abuse'.

I thought they were Milt. at first, but now I'm not so sure.

Looks like a cymbidium to me.

I just see 4 pics. They all look like Cymbidium.

I say Cymbidiums too. I'm no cym expert since I only have one ( that I struggle with) but aren't they potted a little too deeply? I always thought that the base of the bulbs should be just above the surface of the medium.

The man at the orchid nursery has been in the business for 40+ years. He re-potted them for me and they've been happier ever since. I'm going to leave them right where they are! ;>

I think we are all missing one, or am I confused?

I see the cym. in the middle in the second photo but, if you look closely, to the left in the pot and also in front of the cym., there appears to be another p-bulb or two there that look like a... I don't know!!

Those don't look like cyms. to me. What am I missing??

There are two plants, one is in black pot (the first 2 pictures), another is in green pot (bottem two). They both look like cyms to me too.

The two are back bulbs (older leafless bulbs) to me. They look somewhat odd since I guess the plants are potted little too deep.

I would agree that they are planted a bit too deep, but with the big standard cymbids (which these appear to be), it will not usually be a problem. Any new growths which the plant throws out will usually adjust to the added depth and elongate a bit more from the base of the original pseudobulb.
