Those keikis are on flower spikes .Year after year it sends two to three flower spikes out and they never bloom they just go to keikis. I just upped my lighting to a 1000 watt HPS lets see if lighting is the issue this year . MY friend warned me it was hard to flower and he grew in a green house.

The first thing that comes to mind when you mention hard to flower and also makes keikis readily instead of flowers is some of the dendrobiums. I wonder if it is some variety of dendrobium.

As someone has already mentioned, if it IS a Tolumnia, prionochila is a distinct possibility. However I am unaware of any award given to this species which may be due to its reluctance to flower. Even in nature, flowering is not common since even a slight breeze will cause kikis to form on the inflorescence instead of blooms. It does, I've been told, have yellow flowers. I have one that I finally just threw on the bench after 14 years and NO flowers. Lots of inflorescences with kikis though.

Sorry I don't know what it is , could it be it needs less light looks like it is getting a lot . I had a plant that was given to me I thought it was an Oncid. of some type gave it a lot of light would not bloom or do anything for 5 years .. Got ticked and put it in an area with not a lot of light a month later it bloomed turned out it was an eria . Just a thought ... Gin

I've tried the less light thing and the problem isn't getting it to spike it's getting the spike to flower . you talk about pulling your hair out . once alright but year after year . wow . So now i have it under a 1000 watt HPS maybe.

I believe the key to flowering this plant is first to identify it. Without identity, it may never flower because everything you do is like taking a stab in the dark. One day you might hit the jackpot but on the other hand, you may never. Once identified, all of the little idiosyncries could be worked out then what: --- Flowers.
