Mystery Orchid
Hello! I have this mystery orchid that I have had for a little over a year. It was given to me by a lady at my previous job who had a huge greenhouse full. She would occasionally bring me a newbie when she repotted. Anyway, here is one she gave me that did not have a tag. It only had 2 flowers last year, but this year it has 4 on one shoot and another shoot developing. So far just the first flower is fully opened with a second that started opening today.
Anyway, the flower is really beautiful! I just have no idea what kind of orchid it is. I see a few different possibilities in it, but I would rather get everyone's opinions. The one picture with the envelope shows a small mailing envelope (the kind for mailing bills) to show how small the plant is. It is in a four inch pot with bark mix and some spag. Let the guessing games begin!

Your mystery plant looks a lot like one the intergeneric hybrids. In this case I'm thinking it might be a Miltassia. (Miltonia x Brassia). As for pinpointing the exact hybrid, that may be difficult since so many exist with the same coloring.

JennS,
As Camille states, its a hybrid; one possibility is Miltonia xbluntii (or Miltonia Bluntii), Miltonia spectabilis x Miltonia clowesii. Take a look at http://www.orquidariovirtual.com/miltonia-bluntii/

I figured it would be nearly impossible to pin point the exact one. I just wanted to get an idea, so you guys are definitely helping there. I had no idea what type it even was!
I appreciate the help and either way I am happy to have such a stunner!

Well, just for arguments sake, which woud (probably) have shorter leaves? I noticed in the picture (although the flower is very similar) that the leaves show in the background as being taller then the flower shoot. Mine has much shorter leaves. I know I can't figure out the exact hybrid, but would the brassia influence cause the shorter leaves? Or the Miltonia? I really don't know much about either type, so any more info would be helpful! Thanks!

I also would vote for Miltassia -- perhaps Marfitch 'Howard's Dream' or similar? Looks as though this may be smaller than Howard's Dream.

To me it looks like Beallara Pacific Bright Star 'Willy Nilly'. I have one and of course cannot find the picture or a picture of the 'Willy Nilly' (there are several other variations of the Pacific Bright Star). Im also almost certain that one of the parents is Miltassia Royal Robe. I think the other parent is Oda Remembrance. I'll look it up when I get to my PC and let u know for sure.

I too think it is a Beallara. I have Eurostar and Peggy Ruth Carpenter. very similar. Yours is very nice.

Now that I read the latest posts I remember that, of course, 'Howard's Dream' is a Beallara, not a Miltassia! Sorry!

Well thank you everyone for all the opinions. I have no idea which one is right, but I feel better knowing some options.
The second flower opened yesterday and it is much smaller then the first. Orchids never fail to confound me!
