When a spike is cut or flowers are all gone, a new leaf grows because usually this is around spring.
When a store bought phal in bloom for summer or fall finishes flowering, they may not always develop a new leaf right after flowering is finished.
It will eventually grow when it wants to grow. lol
Come to think of it, my standard sized phal hybrids always took at least one or two months before starting a new leaf even in the spring time.
So mine usually spiked in the fall, then flowers opened as early as January, sometime earlier, and sometimes later.
and by the time the flowers all drop, it is already march or April. I never saw new leaves starting until May or June even. then they would grow two large leaves rather quickly during the hot summer months.
