It's called a basal keiki. It's a new small plant growing off the main stem of the mother plant. Sometimes they remain very small and don't grow much but, if you're lucky, it can grow into mature plant and bloom at the same time as the mother plant. Keikis can also form on flower spikes. Those keikis can be removed once they have enough roots to live on their own. I prefer not to remove basal keikis from the main stem. Just leave it alone and let it grow.
