A pleasant surprise to find as I returned from a week's vacation on the beach.
This is a first blooming stem prop that I purchased from Big Leaf Orchids about 18 months ago. I guess 'Tejas' is an old cultivar at this point, but I can certainly understand why it was awarded an AM. I was expecting a fully red/reddish flower as opposed to the classic Penang Girl coloration. I suspect this has to do with my culture and growing temp on the cool side.
Vigorous grower. Flower is strongly perfumed like cooked ham. Not unpleasant.
