Handful of NOID phals, some spiked some not. Female
Default Handful of NOID phals, some spiked some not.

I bought about 6-8 noid phals from Lowes back in early September. All $1 clearance shelf, some mini phals, some full size ones. All had dropped their blooms, and were a little neglected.

Well, I brought them home, repotted and let them be. When it got a little chilly outside, i cracked the window they were in front of for a couple weeks so they could get a little cold. I was told that would help them spike.

Well, something worked, and all but 3 are either spiking/blooming.. and all of them set their spikes back in december.

The 3 that arent... 2 are mini phals, and have both put on 2-3 leaves each. The other is a regular phal, and has put on 1 leaf.

How can I get these last 3 to go ahead and spike? Should I try getting them cold again? I'm not all that worried, because they are healthy, I would just like to see them spike.

Here are pics of each of them. One is working on a leaf right now, so I know its not gonna spike until that is done..

When did they last spike?

Sometimes it can take 18months to settle back into a pattern after the nursery forced spikes out of step with the normal pattern.

Personally I would let them do their thing, and if the slight cooler temps have not triggered them then just enjoy the ones it has and let these try again next year (or they might surprise you and bloom in the summer, some of mine do that).

Agreed with Rosie. Looks like you'll have to wait awhile for another blooming cycle. Next september looks pretty good

Enjoy you're orchids

That first one might have some interesting flowers for sure.

They all look happy though.
