This is the first one growing spikes recently.
Due to lack of care, the young leaf was bited a big hole by a caterpillar. Growing orchids outdoors, You won't know what kind of pest coming.

When I got this plant ,only with 2 and half leaves left, . 2 weeks later, no more leaf.
Fortunately, soon it growed leaf and roots. Now the roots spread all over the bark.
For P. amabilis, I think they need more sunlight to grow roots.

I missed its bloom season this year, after 2 months growing, I have another keiki.
Most of P. eq. coming from Philippines, however, this one is not. The vendor had showed me its pic and it was different from the Philippines type.
Soon I can see what it looks like, or I was fooled.

Well, this could be a mistake. In fact, it is not a phal.
A native to Taiwan, but few people grow it.
It is very similar to Gastrochilus somai, yet very differnent from the flower. There are many small flowers gather together.
The local name is " yellow pom-poms".

Good job Edward!! Can't wait to see the flowers!
I too, think my chids are excited for the cold nights!
I have about 35 phals in spike, many double and triple spikes too.
I have a quite a few Tolumnia's, Catts, Vandas & Dens in spike too!
I love the cool nights now, as I know that pushes them to spike
Evertday, I go out and find a couple more chids, showing off with a spike coming out!
