Hi Camille,
It sure is a beauty...and thanks for the second photo..it is fantastically clear and the colors look crisp.

I can definitely see the influence of equestris in this guy...well done!

There's actually a lot of equestris in it. The seed parent is 50% equestris and the pollen parent has it too, as well as some amabilis.

Default Phal. Spring Dancer or????

Hello Phal Friends!
I recently bought a phal at the ECOS Orchid show here in Montreal,QC and have a question about the name.
The label reads: Phal. Spring Dancer
Now I see two other names that it may be:
Phal. Brother Spring Dancer or
Phal. Spring Dancer `FANGtastic',
but the label just reads: Phal. Spring Dancer
Can anyone help?/

I have posted a picture in Fleur #2 Phals album
Thanks, Fleur

Hi Fleur,

Two different hybrids have been registered with the RHS. One called Brother Spring Dancer and one called Spring Dancer. These are different hybrids with different parents and are not related to each other at all.

'Fangtastic' in the third name is a cultivar or clone name. This is a name of an individual plant within a hybrid. All clones of that individual can then also use the name 'Fangtastic'.

As far as I can tell 'Fangtastic' a cultivar name for Brother Spring Dancer.

If your plant has a tag of Phal Spring Dancer then that is likely to be the correct name.

Thanks so much for that info,RosieC.
Hubby and I have been in orchids for several years now and he has been President of ECOS for a few years. Your explanation is very well understood and we shall try to get back to the vendor as well... If we can locate him online.
Thanks for a speedy reply!
