Default Spike on a Phal

Hello:
I recently purchased a Phal cornu-cerivialba FANGTastic. It was in spike and all the flowers have bloomed and have now fallen off. Do I cut the spikes down to the root level or what do i do. I am new at this and really need some help.

Thanks

Dennis

Dennis, with some Phals I'd say to cut the stem back. Cornu cervi, however, is one I'd urge you to leave the stem on. On this species, sometimes the stem can go dormant for a while, but will later start a new burst of activity. I had one stem which rebloomed on and off for three years. So I hope you'll leave it on the plant unless it begins to yellow on its own.

Default Phal spike

Thanks much for the advice, I was going to cut it off. The info from the grower says this plant can bloom 2-3 times a year.

have a happy thanksgiving.

And often from the same stem! P. cornu cervi has always been one of my favorites.

EDIT: I have no idea why this message doubled, and apologize. Also can't find a way to delete the second post!
