Phal. Sogo Beach
guys! well here I am, the attached is a pic of a phal/dtps my boyfriend gave me for valentine's day, I killed it , I did all the wrong things, in the end, I tried s&b and it turned into mush, literally.
Since there's no "Orchid Cementary Forum" you are probably wondering the point of my post...
I want the same phal/dtps. The tag that came with the orchid (which was purchased at Costco) only read "Sogo Beach", I don't have the tag (again I did all the wrong things ) so I was wondering if any of you knew where I can purchase one, or if you know if it goes by a different name, or if the tag was wrong all along and my phal/dtps is another phal/dtps easier to find
Thank you sooo much in advance

I found a link that has a picture of Sogo Beach. You will be able to tell more than I if it's the one you had. Just scroll down a ways and you'll see it. It also gives you an idea of other phals that are of a similar color. I will keep my eye out for one like yours though. I'll let you know if I can find it anywhere. It's really pretty! I did the same as you when I killed an orchid my boyfriend got for me. I ordered the exact one online. Somehow it made me feel better for my stupidity! It also met a mushy sphag and bag fate before I knew better. Whoops!

Thank you very much for the link Sarah while it does look like my last orchid, I don't think they ship to the US so back to the quest. I truly appreciate you keeping an eye out for one similar.
I really really want to replace it, as you said, to make me feel better, maybe even pretend it never happened jejejeje although is very late for that he knows is a goner....
I think is sooo funny how you also went through practically the same thing, is the orchid circle of life
Thank you again, and will also let you know if I found it locally.

Maybe even Costco will have one again. It seems like sometimes places like that will keep getting the same kinds in again and again.
I agree that when you replace an orchid that was a present from someone you can definately pretend it never happened! Besides the one my boyfriend gave me that I turned to mush in that darn bag I also killed a beautiful burgandy (sp?) phal that he bought for me around the same time. I didn't repot it when I brought it home because it was flowering. By the time the blooms fell off and I repotted it had no roots left. They all rotted in the broken down bark it was in. It was huge too! I tried it in sphag and a bag too. I think it was just way too late because within 2 weeks it just fell apart. I'm still looking for a replacement for that one!
But I suppose we have to go through these horrible losses in order to learn. I now know that I should repot as soon as I get a new orchid regardless of if it's blooming, and to check on my poor orchid once in a while once I place it in sphag and a bag. So I guess it wasn't a complete waste of money... But it still makes me mad at myself!

Yes, I will have to check, it was really really cool
and yes, we all have to go throuugh with them, I feel such a grown up when I think to myself "if I had known then what I know now" but yes I wa slucky enough to find the OB and I am happy that I don't completely screw things up.
My boyfriend is funny though, instead of giving me orchids in bloom he's found a place that marks them down as low as 25 cents, so he's sort of been giving me a couple of those, 4 total, to "play with" he says
Anywho, kill one, grow hundreds, right

My boyfriend bought me a phal every birthday for several years... and they all suffered the same root rot prosedure...
Finally, after several years, and equal many chids, i figured out how to water enough... not to mutch, not to little.
And now i have 17 chids, both mounted, in S/H and some in regulare bark-mix.
Sadly i think most of the chids-lovers need to go trhu the same experience...
