In your picture I noticed what looks like an open window. A cool draft will blast buds quicker than anything else I've found. Could this be the reason for your bud blast? It only takes a few seconds of cool/cold air to do it if the bud is at a certain vunerable stage.

Al, my phals live in the bathroom , on a shelf away from the window. I moved the plant closer to the window for the pic . The window is closed at night when the temps go down to between 6 to 10 degrees Centigrade and even below that just lately . Its enough to freeze the b--ls off a brass monkey!.what happened to global warming!

Ha, Ha, global warming is happening on some other globe I think. I am quite familiar with brass and monkies!
It is still to cold at night for me to get my plants outside (40's f). I think we are in for one of those years without summer.
des...........your phal is nice! Anything that blooms for us is a treasure.

I have a promenaea which as recently formed 3 buds ...all unfortunately have turned brown and blasted. Not sure what I've done wrong, haven't changed anything, maybe I should have. Grown in west facing window, fert w. weekly, planted in spagnum, has new growth forming as well. Any ideas?? Tried to attach a pic, not sure if it worked, new at this. Thanks.
