This mini phal has produced a vine like growth with leaves opposite each other and bloomed with a similar bloom as the min phal. I haven't uprooted it yet to see if its really connected but will after the flowers fade. Ive never seen this behavior before..is it the same plant?

Reason: Photos upsidedown
When you unpot it you'll find out... It may be a basal growth (not a keiki, not an independent plant... don't try to separate if it is attached) Depending on ancestry, some Phals just do tend to form clumps. Each growth produces spikes, so that makes an ever-improving display. Enjoy!
Forming basal growths is one way Phals propagate, rather than just getting taller. Eventually, all healthy ones do (you have never seen a 6-foot Phal, after all)
Thank you so much for the info..im anxious now to unpot and inspect! Your site is fabulous and such a treasure of information, you must think you already are in heaven! Pat
