Al, depth of field is really quite simple. For extreme closeups like this use f16 or f22. Set the camera to "A" setting and the built-in light meter should do it's job selecting proper shutter speed. Now with a f-stop that small, you may have a long exposure and need a tripod. Try it out and see if there's a difference (more stuff is sharp).
