Thanks for the heads up! Tourons can rape a beach. Out in front of my folks house on the obx they will take anything between the top of the sand dune and the beach that isnt nailed down. So I can see how meccas of tourist travel could insist that icons of the natural draw be left in place.

Here we grow orchids on coconut tree trunks and on coconut shells and on coirs even .we use coconit shell chips even . and mouldings of coconut fibers.
Why do not you try whole coconut things for mounting .
You get great results.

It's good to read a thread with such consideration for habitat preservation. I know there are lots of issues in different places, but the fact that we are all aware of these issues and discuss them openly is a HUGE advancement from the state of environmental awareness of decades past. Maybe we're not doomed? Way to go OB members!
