It was suggested that I show pics of m y growing areas, so here we go!

East side/front door:

West side/exhaust fan:

Interior:

I just built the greenhouse before winter started, and I havn't really got a lot in there, yet. I think I have eighteen orchids in there, now, but will be getting more, once winter ends and things can be shipped. Also, of course, with the spring show season.

This greenhouse is an 8.5'x10' from an on line source. Construction is PVC and the film is UV-resistant poly sheeting. SO far, it has withstood several nights int he upper 20's without going below 50F, which is ideal, considering I plan to and currently grow mostly Cattleyas and such in there.

My last greenhouse was a 10'x20' job that I designed and built myself, the summer before my freshman year at University. Unfortunately, the winter of my second year I lost almost the entire collection to a freeze. I think this 8.5x10 jobber is pretty good to start off with, considering my first GH was 6x8.

CHeers!

Now that's pretty spiffy if I have to say so myself. PVC is such a wonderful and versatile material to work with huh?

But as an old friend (Elmer Fudd) would say "Be vewy vewy cawefull that you don't wun out of woom too fast." This affliction of ours (or in my case spouse's) is extremely contagious and highly dangerous you know, once it has you ... you are done for.

Oh yes, ten years on I definitely know how bad it can be. There is enough room behind the greenhouse that I can expand it, if necessary. Which is kinda the plan. LOL

Now that's what I call "a wonderful second home" I would spend most of my days out there if I were able to afford the heat bill here in Michigan. Please keep us up to date as you add the new 'chids.
