Default greenhouse in south florida.

hello everyone. im thinking of purchasing a harbor freight 8x10 instead of building a larger shade house and have a few questions,

first, did you get a permit? if so did you pour a pad? neighbors give you any problems?

how have you changed your routine going from shade house to green house? with 80%+ humidity, i can see pots staying wet for to long.

do you have problems keeping the temps from being to high?

thanks.

hi! i am in nc, so i cant help you a lot....and in the country we dont worry about permits or neighbors....i did prepare a 'pad' of clay with gravels about 8 inches deep on top....i went from indoor growing straight to the greenhouse....no shade house up here.....and it gets almighty hot in there in the summer.....be sure to get an aluminet shade cloth....honestly, i dont know how you would keep it cool in the summer down there, maybe some fla growers will chime in.....

Well, I also live in NC. In my neighborhood, we have a HOA (Homeowners Assoc) and we need approval for everything.

However, I am waiting for approval on a 14 x 22 greenhouse to house all my phals.

If you are interested. You should check out where I am buying from..

Brassmonkey, why in the world would you want a greenhouse here in Florida?

Some of the biggest problems growing down here is too much sun. The only advantage I can see is for cold days of which hopefully this year is unusual.

If you do a greenhouse, you're still going to have to shade it.

I would recommend a shade house, and maybe some white plastic to wrap it up during the occasional cold spell.

i lost all my bulbos this winter from cold. here is a pic of media with ice on it.

in the summer time it can rain for days at a time and i end up having to staple plastic over the shade house.

looks aesthetically better to me than a shade house.
