Den. farmeri in bloom
I have been looking after this plant for a friend who is away. When I took it, it had tight clusters of buds and now its in bloom. Luckily she will be home soon and will be able to see it in all its glory.

Thanks for looking!
Yep, my friend seems to have this one figured out. I am just glad it survived and bloomed under my watch. She wants me to take it to show n tell at our society meeting today. Fingers crossed It makes the trip there and back without catastrophe!!

Hee, hee I'd probably drop it. Oh sorry I hope I didn't jinx you. It's so pretty. She's very lucky to have such a nice friend to take care of it for her.

I won't relax till I am back home with it after the meeting!
And I am keeping it in the greenhouse because I don't trust my bad cat Stanley not to chew the leaves if I bring it into the house.

Bloom colours like my Dendrobium amabile, which hasn't bloomed in 2-3 years. Trying every method: cool nights, dry rest, bright sun, also watering a bit more.... No luck yet. Hopefully this year!
Great blooms btw!!

thanks-on behalf of my friend
I looked at Den. amabile in OrchidWiz. Very similar looking to the farmeri but sounds a bit more demanding to grow. it is quite a cool grower, even in summer and still cooler in winter. I found it interesting that rainfall is light to moderate in summer the heavy rains start in early fall to early winter. It only has a slightly drier period in late winter. Hope that might help.

It's a stubborn one. But I will keep trying!
