Dendrobium kingianum keiki care

Can edible kelp (konbu/kombu) be used? That is relatively easy to buy in Stockholm, Sweden. I have not found any hydroponic shops here.

The first keiki died. I was given a new one. How long does it take for a Dendrobium kingianum keiki to produce flowers? The other ones on the mother plant have spikes with buds now. I wish I had left this one there until it had buds. To encourage spike formation this keiki has been on my glazed balcony, very cool and dry from about September or October. It has done nothing so I have moved it back indoors and watered it. Since I have the door open there is a slight drop in temperature over night.

I know that left on the parent, they can bloom very young - next / current bloom cycle. I don't know about if removed from the parent - I've not had luck keeping small keikis alive too long after removing them

I wouldn't like to put a time scale to this but just treat it as normal and hopefully it will grow well and flower within 3 years.
Kingianum are strange, I have one massive one and a small one, both flower as well as each other.
