Dendrobium findlayanum Male
Default Dendrobium findlayanum

I got a young plant two years ago. It bloomed these days. The species has several clones. Some are easy plants to grow but some are not. The clone is the one that is able to grow well in lowlands here.

Beautiful clone, pheli! I really like the flaring on the segments. I had one with similar (though not as nice) flowers to yours but I don't think it liked the cool winter and now it's in the compost pile. My seedlings of another color form are doing great, though.

Very nice color. Does it grow like a nobile type?

Thanks for the kind words.
The species comes from several regions in China and in southeast Asia. Some highland clones do not like the hot humid summer here.
I now grow this one with my phalenopsis. But this year I will remove it to my dendrobium areas. Hope it can produce more blooms next spring.
The blooms are not fragrant.

That's a nice one, congrats on finally getting blooms! It's so rewarding to grow a young plant until it flowers for the first time.

Yes and No. It can blooms in intermediate condition, but the plant seem to produce more bloom when it keep a little cooler down to 12'C. Not extreme as nobile, but def a little cooler than primulianum, pendulum, amphyllum.

I have both, regular form and var. oculatum form (which has a maroom eyes). The regular form last a little longer than oculatum form.

Very beautiful, I love this species ! The canes are also very interesting and attractive in those plants in my opinion.

Congratulations, as you mentioned it is not always an easy one to grow...
