Default Spike ?

Is it normal or common for the 2nd spike to come out of the side like this? My last one that did this came straight out of the top. Thanks.

It might be a keiki or an aerial root, the first seems more likely. What plant is it?

I'm thinking root...but I'm not sure.
On a Den, it could be either
Give it a few more days.
