I have spent the better part of the last hour looking at your flickr orchid photos.... all I can say is... breathtaking. Are those all your orchids? Such a vast collection... just beautiful!

Hi friend,
I've been growing orchids for about 30 years, have been photographing them nearly as long. The majority are plants I've grown, though I no longer own many of them, and some are photos I've taken as an AOS awards photographer and at orchid shows. My collection at present is limited to about 200 miniatures that I grown in an orchidarium, mainly Pleurothallids and Oxyglossum Dendrobiums.
Thanks for looking and for your kind compliments,
Ron

Are the Picasa photos the same as Flickr? I can't stand Flickr's interface. confusing navigation etc etc. I like Picasa way better more straightforward.
I will take a look, Flickr is just offputting to my taste and patience. Anyway I am sure will see some gems!

Not all the pictures I have on Flickr are on Picassa but many of them are. You have my sympathy re Flickr - I'm considering dropping my subscription when it comes up.

Some really nice photos. I looked on picasa. At least on picasa you know left arrow is prev and right arrow is next. You can just use teh keyboard. and you can see where you are in the album. Flickr is a mess and I wonder why it is so popular. Picasa gives a lot more for free and is a lot more intuitive. Anyway nice lighting, sharp photos, beautiful blooms. I always want to see more of the plant not just the blooms. You seem to like Masdevallias more than everything. Yr Den primulimum klooks amazing.

Masdevallias have always been my favorites. I've started a blg (see the first post in this thread) and have been including pictures of the plants as well as the flowers. The Dend. primulinum was no mine - the photo is an AOS awards photo I took. I've never grown anything that big and that plant was enormous - they practically needed a crane to move it.

At last night's HOS meeting there was a D. laevifolium on the plant table. Such a cutie. This one is going on my wish list, too. I am going to ask the owner how she keeps the plant here in our heat (95 most of this week) and humidity almost to match.

Thanks, Beverly. Used to be a member of that great society and still remember fondly many of the members past and present.

Ron,
What a beautiful plant. I'll have to check these out next time I'm over at Orchids Limited. He's local for me, so at least there's no shipping!
