It is perfectly normal for Dends to thin out over time, eventually they will die and you can replace them with a nice Paph.

You are too funny! I'm not planning on letting this one die! I'm going to have a look at your gallery to see how well yours are doing...
Very pleased to meet you, sounds like you have a reputation on this forum...

Everyone hide your Dends. This is the Dend-exterminator!

To add to the mix,I have an antelope type NOID that is putting out 2 flower spikes on a leafless cane. That isn't related closely to the nobiles,is it?

No Paphs thankyou,Tony. They are low on the list of desirable plants for me.

From my research, I say No, they are not nobile type.
They are Spatulata. Easier to grow than all other dends.
They flower without any special rest. LUCKY YOU!
Do you know what colour it is, or is this the first spikes since you've had it?

It looks a a lot like Blue Twinkle. It was in bud when I bought it last August and was in full bloom a month later.I think it is young plant,as it is rather small.I posted a picture of it on my gallery on this web site.It is probably still there. I liked it so much I bought another one, similar but not exactly the same. Both have a light flowery fragrance, and they are so nice and graceful compared to most orchids.

I'm happy to hear that they are easy keepers. Thanks.

Nancy

This comment, obviously made with levity, must be classified sacrilegeous! Well cared for Dendrobium can live ad infinitum!
