Default Den moniliforme (China form)

I got this a little over 2 weeks ago from Andy's. Flowers are 1.25 inches, plant 1ft. tall.

What a surprise! Just 2 weeks ago I tried to transplant it and noticed tiny nubbins that were too numerous for keikis and decided to wait.

I only took off 2 large keikis which are already forming roots and new shoots in water culture.

Evan, looks like you have another plant to chose from soon.

Wonderful color! It's such a soft, buttery yellow. And I agree, those canes do look a lot taller than they actually are, which is a nice illusion for people with limited space. Good thing you caught those little nubbins forming!

Oh Maria! If I let my parents have any say in the matter I know they'd be giving you a stern talking to about trying to fill their house with orchids. But they really shouldn't complain. Their only other option is me buying plants instead! Besides, I don't really listen to them when it comes to plants!

Actually, my mom really likes bright colors like this. She's already got one chid that I gave just to her to take care of. I'm trying to find other chids that might help her catch the disease...I mean hobby.

Thanks for the positive comments. I don't think the photo can show what an elegant plant this is with the slim canes and regularly spaced nodes, almost like a little bamboo.

Fren, my impression is that the wild Chinese form can vary in color as well as the other huge number of varieties.

The fragrance is unusual, reminds me of Linden flowers.

Oh my goodness! That's a beauty. What great stuff Andy's has. I've been resisting the strong urge to make a larger order. These pictures do not help!
