Beautiful, Jerry! I just LOVE the mini Dens. Love the yellow and white coloring and form of this one!

Haven't seen one of those in years. Lost the one I had long time ago (had gotten it at Lowes). The fragrance was great! Reminded me of honey.

Ethan, they do share the same parent; Den canilicalatum.

And Paul, I could not quite associate the scent but I believe honey is about as close as you could get.

Thanks, Jerry! I think I'm starting to get an eye for this thing! They look almost identical except with the purple lip on the one. I am so fascinated by the genetics in orchids...maybe one day when I have more room and more time I'll get involved in crossing...right now certainly don't have extra of either!

Hybridizing used to be one of my main orchid ambitions. I had a strong desire to work with crossing phalaenopsis with renantheras. There seems to be a big shortage of these crosses for some reason. I think I once heard that they were very difficult to make but it sure would be fun trying. Imagine Renanthera Tom Thumb crossed with Phalaenopsis equestris alba or Renanthera monichica crossed with Phalaenopsis tetraspis.

I have one also, but much larger. It's about 5-6 years old and keeps on blooming. Got caught in he Hurricanes a few years ago and I lost about 1/2 of the plant, but it seems to be coming back. Flowers are really nice.

Breezermommy,
I use to have the larger variety several years ago and I don't remember what happened to it. I probably gave it to a friend. Anyhow I believe this plant will remain very small because I have had it for three years and each new growth stays the same as the former one at about six to eight inches.

I really hope it does stay small. As much as I like the dendrobium flowers, some of the plants become giants requiring too much space.
