It's a total mystery! At the time it first happened, I did a lot of searching for an answer and didn't come up up with a single reference to my situation.
I'm just thrilled that the plant bounced back and is now opening a new bloom each day, I have 3 now!
When we had Martin Motes as a speaker at a recent meeting, one of things he said that stuck in my head was something like...the most important part of growing orchids is the shadow of the master (that is definitely NOT a direct quote except for the "shadow of the master" part
), meaning that the master (me and you
) needs to be on top of your 'chids checking for things that MAY become a problem and fix it before it erupts. I think it came in handy for me...if I hadn't been so aware of this plant's quick demise, I don't think it would've been saved. I had a choice to make since the plant was full of spikes and buds at the time...and I decided to operate and hope for the best.
My wish came true!!!
This plant has not only survived but is now thriving
