Picked up this Den Tyabb "WOC' yesterday at a local nursery (lucked out!). So beautiful, the flowers don't even look real. Smells just as strong/pleasant as a kingianum.

So pretty and really unusual - well, over here it definitely would be!

Nice! I'm glad they're doing well for you! How's the fragrance?

These sure take their time haha... it's finally raining here in San Diego (for 1 day :) ) and some of the buds were washed away. Mostly holding up though!

That’s going to be a lucky friend(or two) I envy them.
And Clawhammer, you were very lucky finding that beautiful plant! Anyone would be proud of it.

Jeff214:

Oh yes! Maybe it was windy, so I didn't think either one was particularly fragrant, but after I brought them into the office, WOW! I think it's the one on the right.

The T R Samara bloomed last year, and I still don't detect a scent with the pot I have left, but will wait for the flowers to open more.

Looking forward to two other kingianums to bloom for their first time for me to see if they're fragrant too. :)

Waterdog111:

I still have other pots I hope will bloom next winter so I can give more away. Will be happy to send if you'd like! :)

I received this bare-root Dendrobium Speciosum from Ecuagenera in Nov 2023, grown two new growths and is now blooming, looks like a compact version

ugh no spikes on my kingianum or speciosum again this year, I think I'm not getting them cool enough in winter or something. I'm growing indoors in a Milsbo cabinet and they're growing like gangbusters, just no blooms. boooo!

Hazeldazel - where? Many people in northern California could leave these outside all winter if they don't get frost, or bring them inside to a cool room during periods of frost.

I think that these may need to move outside, just bring them in when temps are down to serious frost. (They can tolerate a few degrees of sub-freezing for a few hours just fine) I recall, in a talk by Fred Clarke (Sunset Valley Orchids) in which he mentioned a Den. falcorostrum that he was growing in the GH that just kept getting bigger with no flowers, he put it outside (kill or cure) and it bloomed beautifully. That fall/winter temperature gradient is likely to be the important factor.
