My very First Paph!
Default My very First Paph!

Hello everyone,

I introduced myself in the newbie forum a few weeks ago. Tonight I just wanted to share my very first Green Maudiae blooming Paph. I got him in spike on January 21st, so not that impressive. But I am really excited that his bud did not blast and he made it out just fine and he is breathtakingly beautiful!

The tag says Paph. (Hsinying Citron x Maudiae) '#1' x Paph. Hsinying Majakun '#7'.

Good!
Maudiae alba paph was also one of my first orchids.
They are simple but very elegant and I never get tired of them.
Plus, they come with beautiful leaves and grow and bloom with ease at home. love them!

Beautiful! I'm pretty sure this is the same hybrid I have, my first paph as well. It's been a slow grower, okay a really slow grower for me but I'm also a terrible under-waterer. So good luck with it, it's a thirsty plant and likes Phal light at least for sure.

These in general should not be a slow grower, although some can be as I have one.
If you are a terrible underwatere, you won't make a good mama for them. lol

I had to learn this! Before this one I only had phals. and with them I don't have to water them any more than once a week. This one seems to looooove water and I had to adjust to it so I water it more often then my phals. It is also in a smaller container so it's drying out quite quickly, once it's done blooming I'm going to replant it into a more water retaining medium and hopefully it will do even better!

I think this one is growing pretty fast! It took 3 weeks for it to fully open. Is that fast? I have no idea!! My Paph's new flower spike has been taking a month now to just get to this ones original length.
Here is what it looked like when It arrived.

I'm very jealous! I lost my first paph's bud.
Like some of the other members, I'm prone to under-watering. I'm afraid of rotting paph roots. The bud turned crispy...I've been getting better at it though

Nice choice for a first. Be careful, or this time next year you may have 50 Paphs.

If you would like to simplify that tag somewhat...

Paph (Super Maud '#1' x Hsinying Majakun '#7')
