Ah ok! I never thought about looking up on Bulbos. I didn't know there were "pleasant" fragrance ones.
I like the looks of many dendrobiums though (den phal, nobile, and the pendulous ones.) I just think that most of the den phals have spikes that are too long/tall. I've thought about getting a micro chip.
Right now, phrags, novelty phals, and paphs are my favorites. I think all my phrags love me! I looked at a photo of my Caudatum of when I first got it, and it's actually growing faster than I thought it would. I must be doing something right.
Paph Sukhakulii is putting out a new growth of some sort inbetween a leaf. Paph HCM's leaves are growing faster in his new place.
I don't know how my phals are/will be doing. P (golden bells x golden wish) x Hilltop's Jewel 'Huffman's Baby's new leaf looks like it's dying. The flowers all fell off too. I think I have to move it back to sphag moss instead of bark. Hopefully no crown rot! :sob:

Some small but very pretty Dendrobiums are Dendrobium normanbyense, Dendrobium aberrans and Dendrobium prenticei. I don't think aberrans is fragrant but the other two should be. The aberrans and normanbyense are the parents of Microchip. Actually, there are many small Dendrobiums. I have just the one Phal-type and, yes, it is a little large but I am going to keep it.
Phrags and Paphs are great orchids. There just are not many fragrant ones so I haven't gotten into collecting them. I did buy a few Paphs that should have been fragrant but, when they bloomed, the blooms had no scent at all, likely due to breeding for appearance of the flower. That ended Paphs for me and when someone expressed interest in them, they got the lot of them.
There is someone here that posts threads of his novelty Phals and you should ask him for advice. His are just gorgeous. I hope yours will be okay. If you are worried about crown rot, carefully drip a little isopropyl alcohol in the crown for a few days (don't get it on the roots). That should clear up an infection if it is not too late.

I buy the nicely scented bulbos that smell like fruit or honey. There are many of those, too.
You can never have enough plants. Green is the best color for decorating!

Hate to "dirty up" this thread, but can you name me some bulbos that smell like fruit and honey??

Here are the bulbos that I have that won't offend the nose:
1) Bulbophyllum baileyi (fruity)
2) Bulbophyllum ambrosia (honey)
3) Bulbophyllum lasiochilum (fruity)
4) Bulbophyllum ecornutum (fruity)
I also have a Bulbophyllum lobbii 'A-doribil' x 'TOF Nice' but I have no idea how that one smells and then there is the noID one that has a woodsy smell (?) that is interesting but not offensive.
I have not succeeded in getting the ambrosia to bloom, despite trying many people's suggestions. I've had it for some years. I have read that many have this problem. Someone said to give it a dry winter and I don't think it much liked that...did not bloom, either. :|

There are quite a few other ones. These are just the ones that I have found so far.
Your delenatii is looking good.

Oh the excitement of it all.
I think at some point I am going to try a bulbo, but I do not want one that smells like dog doo. Or rotting meat I can get that by leaving meat in the sink for too long if I feel the need

What are safe night temps for the delenatii? The temps outside are cold.. 1-6°F, and the coldness is seeping through the windows and doors. My thermometer says 55-57, but with the infrared bulb during the day, it barely climbed to 64 by the paph. Hopefully I'm not making a mistake by leaving him there.
-it was staying around 60-63 at night. No additional heat during the night. I run the mini fan in the tank 24/7. The tank has no cover.
-if it would be better to keep him warmer like a phal, I'll put him in there first thing when I wake up. The new phals are in a PVC mini greenhouse that I setup with a ceramic heat bulb. They stayed around 61 without the bulb on, and zipped. Tonight I left the heat bulb on but left one side slightly open and it's 63°F
I wanted to check with you guys as I did look it up with mixed answers. Minimum night 55°F, or 60°F, even higher? I read that the like to be slightly dry when they're in bud or blooming, with cooler temps
I watered him the day I got him, and have not watered him thoroughly since. Hopefully that will help.

I don't grow paphs any more so I don't really remember. You could move it away from the window every night. I had to do that before I started covering the double glass doors with clear plastic drop cloth to prevent cold drafts.

Thank you so much for the reply! I really appreciate everything.
The paph will only be there shortly, new orchid tank. Once he's done blooming, probably a couples weeks at most, he will be repotted, cleaned, and be checked for pests. Once I think he's cleared the inspection(s), he will be moved in with the other paphs
The heat problem has been fixed.. the sensor was whacky.. but the cold will still seep in a bit. I just hope none of the orchids got damaged by the weird temp changes.
Here's a couple photos from last night and this morning!
last night.
This morning, it's opened even more since this photo.
