Well guys, after blooming for about 2 months, Marvin the Green Martian Paph has decided to turn yellow with embarrassment from all the attention (as he fades normally)... Now he's the shy yellow Martian!!!

Great color at both stages. I see the color change as a bonus, almost like having a different plant in bloom. Imagine how a big multi-growth plant would look with flowers of different colors open at the same time.

I agree PaphMadMan... One year it had two flowers and that was what happened. So now I'll try to grow it into a multigrowth plant and see what kind of show this Martian can do 😊

Your pictures inspired me to get one of my own.... Ran over to an orchid wholesaler today and saw one about the size of yours in bud. No tag, but promised a large purple flower. Can't wait! Now I just need to stalk them until they have a yellow like yours

That is so cool how it fades into a beautiful shade of yellow. The Paphs I have just fade when they fade; they look like they're dying. I can absolutely imagine the joy in owning and growing one especially into a large specimen!

Good job and thanks for sharing!!

I ended up giving away my acquisition as a gift last week. I got to visit it today and this beauty was staring back at me:

Not fully open as you can see, but definitely has a personality. Maybe I'll ask for a division once the other two fans bloom.
