Paphiopedilum helenae
Paphiopedilum helenae - finally this "miniature" Paph blooms for me, so cute, and small, this is perfect size. Grown outside at the balcony year round, in shade, regular watering, but they are "easy" to over water and rot! Not like the big brothers! Adding seaweed and MagiCal.

Thank you, I do not think it is "common" Paph even here in the US, definitely pricy in comparison with the others I do have, but for sure not expensive in comparison with the real eye catchers that goes for hundreds and thousands :-) I love the size on this one!

This is very nice, but it doesn't look like a typical Paph helenae, more like a helenae hybrid. The petals seem too broad, and the strong streaks of color in the petals and dorsal are unusual. Maybe it will look more typical when the flower is fully open. How big is the flower?

Many thanks, the plant is tiny, and the bloom was opened just for the first day, so it may open more. I did get it from Spring Water Orchids and it says on the tag Paph helenae, no hybrid, we shall see:-)
