I meant I don't understand why the Odette's vision opened that way- was it mislabeled?

It's not mislabeled. Since it's seed grown the offspring can display both Coloratum and Vini color ways. Not sure about album as I believe that is a recessive gene.

Very pretty. Makes me anxious though!!! I got Odette's Vision this spring and it came into double spike almost two months ago maybe and then it seemed to stall for a long time; I believe I under-watered it and perhaps let it get too much sun. Since watering a bit more, moving to a new location, and starting it on KelpMax the two buds have grown just A LITTLE LITTLE BIT. I'll let you know how mine come out, this plant has many growths thus the double spikes. Were you the member who got this from Orchid Gallery?

I'm curious to know as well how long your bloom lasts. I've had good and bad luck it seems with Paph blooms. Makes me nervous...

Thanks for sharing! Btw it looks sorta similar to a vini I have that recently opened. I have three that I bought without knowing what the flowers may be, just that they'd be dark. I'll post pics tonight.

Paphiopedilum breeders keep mixing this and that hoping to come up with something amazing or something better and unique.

Regarding the maudiae type hybrids, which your paph roughly belongs to, the tag really means nothing other than showing the parents used in the making of them.
These hybrids look pretty much the same no matter what the tag says in general with three different main color patterns.
They are the results of mixing a handful of species.
So getting a really good one is like playing a lottery in a way, but in general, most flowers come out pretty decent compared to some other hybrids, that can really look horrifying sometimes. lol

Now every once in a while, one does get very lucky and get something truly special and nice.

As you may have seen already I posted an update to my Odette's Vision that has been in bloom for a month now and it does look a bit different from yours. It's darker with only a little bit of green in the middle of the flower. My petals kind of have "thumbs" too.
