Thanks NYCorchidman, I have more hope for it now as I am watering it about every other day now. I didn't think it was anything to exiting as when it did bloom it was ok but nothing special. Really who knows I have changed my opinion about some of my orchids before.

I didn't like my Twinkle at first now I am in love with it, now that I am taking better care of it.

I wouldn't pay $40 either, luckily I got mine from a friend for free after it had quit blooming. He is a florist so if he comes up for a visit he will bring me some that are done blooming. I have gotten some nice ones and killed some nice ones from him, so sad.

Anyway thanks for the help and I won't worry about oyster shell then.

Well, either repot into something finer and water less, or keep as is in bark chuncks but water more often. The plant should be happy with enough water is given.

Great that you have a nice florist friend.

I did just last month re-pot it into a finer mix and right now am watering it about every 2 days. We now will see if it will start growing again.

Yes it is nice he has given me so many, sometimes I feel like I earned them though, he can be a pain

If you repotted your paph into something finer (how small is the bark chips?), you can easily rot out the roots with every other day watering schedule.

But with medium grade bark and fresh out of the bag, which does not stay wet at all after watering, you might be fine with how you water for now until the weather gets really cold. I think Wyoming is already getting quite cold at least in the evening and morning.
Once the bark gets old and retain more water, you want to water less often.

Soaking for a few minutes is probably good while the bark is new. Pouring water through the pot barely wets what's inside the pot and sometimes there can be quite a bit of "untouched" space.

It is Paphs and seedling mix from Kelly's Korner. I now have all my paphs in it and am putting my mini Phals in it as well.

I really think it has enough space in it as I found out that my mini Phals I was for a while having to water every day. Finally it is getting to be 3 or 4 days before I have to water them now.

I try and take a good look before I water. You must remember I am the underwater-er I don't think you can say I have ever over watered one.

Now watch me, I'll start doing it now that I have said that.

And I forgot to say I have been potting them up without soaking the medium first. So then I soak them after potting. I like using the dry mix better than soaking. Seems easier to use.

It is getting into the 50's at night this week, 2 weeks ago we had snow and in the 30's and 40's. In the 80's last few days. I think cold again next week. It won't be long now

I really am trying but it is a problem this month as i am very busy. I thought I did a pretty good job this summer keeping up with them.

Also using better water all winter has probably helped allot. I have always used rain water in the summer but when I ran out in the winter I would just use my well water. And I know it is 7. something.

I noticed just the other day while watering I have a new leaf coming on it so perhaps it is going to wake up now.

Thanks so much for the help.
