I'm shooting a time lapse video of a blooming Paph and I'm keeping it illuminated by diffused white halogen light (in a light tent/box). Will this be OK for the plant or is it one of the types that absolutely require a dark period to open their pores and exchange gases? If it is, will it be able to withstand the light for that period of time from a rising bud to a full flower? Or do I need to give it at least 6 hrs. or so darkness per day?
It does seem to be doing quite well. When I put it in, the flower barely peeked above the leaves, now it's a good few inches above them. So it may take less time than I thought.
It automatically takes one frame per minute (as opposed to 24x or 30x a second in normal video), and there's no way I have to turn on the lights accurately just before and turn them off just after the camera takes a picture.
