My good paph source no longer carry decently priced paphs. A few other stores carry paphs sporadically throughout the entire summer into falls, but price isn't that great.
This store only carried single type last year, but this year they have all kinds of interesting stock!
Out of 6 I bought, 4 came out quite nice!
and that's a good turnout.

I am getting quickly poor (er) here.

Can I ask, on average, what you pay for them there? And what you used to pay? Just trying to get some perspective!

One store, the one that no longer carries paphs, charged $15 per pot. I know, dirt cheap, right?

Then other stores charged $25 last year, then this year $35-50 before tax.
Complex hybrids are much more expensive.

but $35 for an orchid plant of any common genera is about the average price here.

It varies a lot. But one of the places I get them from, a complex in a 4" pot is... $12. And I get a 10%-20% discount because I'm such a regular customer. Sometimes though there are no tags. At this place I buy for plants and flowers though, not for tags. There are rarely species, and I can't order specific plants. When I want those things, I go other places.

Other places prices can be much, much higher. And here in SF, orchids are EVERYWHERE - but paph's are harder to find. I'm pretty sure I know every place to look though, by now! Others though, everywhere. A $10 Phal or Oncidium - I can walk down the street and buy them on the corner. I'm not kidding.

WHAT???!!!!
I should move to Bay area. lol

No, seriously, that is great price!!!
Here, no discounts no matter how many and how often you buy. I am still a cheap customer, relatively. lol

So where are some stores with orchids?
I have visited SF a few times and never seen any flower shops. Can you believe it? lol

I usually stay near the Pier 39 area, but do walk around all over sometimes. maybe I didn't walk enough. haha

Unfortunately a couple places have closed this year. I'm finding I have to drive a lot farther to get things now. There is nothing in the Fisherman's Wharf area that I have ever seen. Then again, I never, ever go there unless I absolutely have to.

Next time you come this way, let's talk before :-)

Ok, but I did walk fairly far, like into the civic center, Chinatown area, and some other neighborhoods as well.

Well, actually I am visiting Cali next month, not SF, but nearby. Napa Valley.
but I'm also visiting Hawaii, so I'll probably be loaded with orchids already. haha

Where in Hawaii? I'm going next month too. Maui. Apparently not the place for Paph's. Maybe a couple Masdevallia's. The places I've found and contacted so far on Maui have told me they don't have what I want. I will probably go check out a place or two anyway.
