hi everyone,
I just bought 3 Paphiopedilum henryanum from hong kong. but ı donnow anything about this plant. if is there a anybody grow this plant, can they share their experinses or advise
It's a cool to intermediate grower so it should grow down to 8C no problems. About 70% shade if you grow outside.
Good airmovement with lots of water in seasons spring through to autumn. A bit drier in winter.
Make sure you don't let water sit in the crown and that the leaves and crown are dry by nightfall. So in winter you should water early in the day to make sure it is dry above the potting mix.
I use small bark, perlite and a small amount of agricultural charcoal in the potting mix.
It should flower for you regularly I would think. I have a few of these that are growing well in temps from near freezing (although I don't recommend it that cold) up to 35C usually. Temps over 40C won't be appreciated by the plant.
I put 2 of them to my glass close balkony, one of them to my saloon. my saloon is more warm. the shop ı took them from plant them to peanut flake. I repot one of them to bark and charcoal mix after flower dead. leafs seems get dark quickly I donnow is it normal in this season.
an the think I wanna ask you is, do they like partial sun light? for example in winter morning light?
and for fertilizer, what u reccomend?
