Way to go Amanda!! I remember that first bloom feeling. It looks like twins! Keep up the great work. More will follow, of that I'm sure.

Blueszz, the pot is 2", so it's pretty small.
You got me with that tiny pot! That was very deceiving!

Default Update on Maudiae Hybrid Spike/Bud

Here is an update on the spike/bud that I grew all by myself! Looks like it is trying to grow 2 flowers on the same spike. This will be interesting to watch!

Rosie, that would be lovely! It didn't give me 2 the last time it bloomed. But, it would sure be nice to get 2 this time!!! It surprised me that it looked like there was going to be 2. I just noticed it today! The bigger bud is hiding it. Sneaky little thing!

When I was looking in to buying a Maudiae (got something else in the end but Maudiae is still on my wishlist) I found a site with a choice of single flowered and multi-flowered Maudiae hybrids.

Of course it might not be the case with yours, but you can always hope.

Hope is the only reason I still grow orchids!!! I have learned a great deal of patience with growing them! It's funny to me that the very orchid I thought would die is the only one that is blooming for me!

wow! thats great amanda! does seem to be 'twins' - congratulations!

Is this plant blooming from the same growth that previously bloomed?

That is what it sounds like to me - but not sure if I understood correctly

Great growing! I wonder if both buds will be open at the same time?
I bought mine with two buds, above the first one the stem was damaged so I never saw the second flower.
Am I right if I say they can flower thru out the year, whenever a growth is mature (under the right conditons?)

Sonya, this spike came from a newer growth. The old spike turned brown, so I cut it off. Could it bloom from the previous growth it bloomed from? That would be good!

Nicole, it would be GREAT if they both opened at the same time. It doesn't look like that will happen though. It will be nice to have one open after the other one is finished though! This one flowered back in January. I bought it a few days before the New Year.
