Default new hybrid Paphs

I got these two guys off ebay and they arrived in last two days both were well packed and looking happy they were in flower and the flowers survived the journey which surprise me, they are hybrids and I am not expecting a name as I am sure they are just as hard as Phals to identify but had to share them with you, I didnt like Paphs when I first started looking at the but have now fallen for them totally, I also bought a Phrag Eric young and omg he is big ! I didnt expect that and have trouble fitting him in he isnt in flower so thats my job to get him to flower I also got a Cym Lady McAlpine that came bare root with nothing wrapped round the roots the poor thing didnt look happy so she has been potted in bark and put outside to enjoy this lovely spring day anyway enough rambling here are the paphs

The last two pictures are the same as mine (in my avatar) and I can tell from the lable in the last pic that it even comes from the same grower. I know yours looks slightly different but most of the ones when I bought mine looked more like yours.

It is Paph (All-) American, a complex hybrid.

Take a look at the growers website which should be on the tag...

PP Paphapodilium

They say that they sell Paph American and if you type that in to google you get loads of results with flowers that look the same.

Someone here on OB found Paph All-American in Orchid Wizz. Searching on that in google does not come up with anything but I think it's the same thing.

It's a fantastic flower

I like your other one as well. Also a great choice, but I can't be as helpful with a name for that one.

thank you so much Rosie I hadn't seen the web address on the tag but yes it most definately is a Paph. American hybrid, how wonderful to be able to see where it has come from and their information is also good, the flower is huge, a lot bigger than id expected, and I love the shape it has, thank you again for the info that is fab.

I learnt the tip from OB, to always check any labels on a NOID for a website.

Often it will lead you to the grower and growers generally only have particular hybrids that they grow. If they show them on the website with pics & names then you can be fairly sure that the one that looks like yours has that name.

This is the first time it's actually worked for me, and in this case it was even easier as the grower only had one plant. I even managed to spot a picture of it in the same outer pot as mine, which seems to be one of the pots they sell it in.

Glad I could point you in the right direction, it's great when a NOID gets a name
