Default Paph Krull-Smith cross... need help with the media!

Okay, I'm new here so.. I might have to research every other term used. But I was just given this division of paph saien 'kurll-smith' x paph ontario jade 'krull-smith', my friend was SHOCKED when he saw that my paph pinocchio and paph maudiae were not terrestrial. His only paph is parent of the one he gave me growing in a soil mixture. Could anyone help me with what media would be best for this hybrid and what light requirements would be best. Right now I have it in a low light area near my phal's. Also, if anyone has a photo of this hybrid or of the parents I would really enjoy seeing it.

Thanks

Hi , Being a plain leaf Paph. it likes more light then the mottled leaf type, more then Phals , but increase a little at a time . Mine are in a bark , sponge rock <-- course perlite , Horticultural charcoal mix . Watered when almost dry . They will grow in other mixes it depends on your growing conditions , and what you are comfortable with regarding watering . Gin

I'm outside watering one thing or another every morning so water schedule is very accomidating to the media. I believe the soil that it's in consists of mostly broken down degrading orchid bark along with (sorry, I feel so stupid LOL) these little white ball things that seem to hold a lot of moisture.

the paph is in the soil mixture because its parentage consists of those species who are found as terestrials in nature. you may grow it in a mixture of 25 percent peat or crushed spag moss, 25 percent charcoal or perilite, and 50 percent fine bark. Be sure to repot every six to twelve months as the parents come from the monsoon regions of asia and have the soil around their roots washed away at each rainy season and then have it replaced by falling leaves and sediment from light showers. Try to grow it with Cattleyas as it needs the light exposure to produce upright leaves. This may be a multifloral so its leaf span can be fourty inches before it decides to bloom. keep it barely moist at all times but dont let it dry out severely or you will stunt the growth. Light applications of fertiliver weekly should be best as it is not a heavy feeder but needs a constant supply of nutrients.
