This is a cross between Phrag. pearcei 'Little' and Franz Glanz 'Yellow Sunset.' The name is being registered as we speak and it is named after my wife Denali. As far as the breeder knows (ORCHIDBabies LLC), this is the only plant in the world of this cross.
I actually got it by accident. I purchased the plant as Phrag. pearcei, but the tag said it was the cross I listed above. I called the owner and he told me he made the cross many years ago, but they all came out straight pearcei (which I didn't know could happen!) so he assumed the same for this plant, which was the last one he had. Turns out the cross took on this lone plant and the grower sent me a full refund and promised to name it Cahaba Denali with Cahaba being the name this nursery gives their crosses and Denali being my wife. Pretty cool mix up I would say!
I also repotted the plant (into s/h) and split it into two pieces, so now I have more of this plant than my small growing conditions can handle!! lol

Lucky you Steve! Sweet looking phrag, colours are soft and pretty
Some of these phrags can't get enough water, so I'm sure it'll enjoy the s/h which I still have yet to try

Looks like a winner to me! Very sweet Steve! I have always wanted to name a plant after someone special! its a dream i plan to realize as soon as i find the right circumstance as you have and i find someone Special enough to name an orchid after ha! Do you plan to produce more plants and make your plant a household name among orchid growers?
