Phrag schlimii
This is one of my most dependable, forgiving orchids by far, and I have a little from most genera. This little one has been bone dry for almost a month and still survived, only to go on and produce 3 new growths and a double flowering right on its usual time the following year!! I got it as a seedling with one large growth and 1 new growth about 3 summers ago. Maybe it was less of a seedling then then vendor thought, cause when the new growth matured that year around Christmas, I got to see its first flowers! Since then it flowers every Christmas with one bloom after another until its done around 4, all FRAGRANT!!! It has a faint, haunting fragrance thats hard to place but kinda smells like raspberries. Its just a teeny little bloom, a little bigger than my thumb nail, and so darn cute and fuzzy! I grow it in my cool section even though it is supposed to be warmth tolerant. It gets a high of 70 in the summer and in the 50's and 60's in the winter, depending on how much we run the furnace. Humidity is around 60% and its under four 4foot T8's or possibly 12's, cant remember. Such a happy little plant!
