Oh now I SEE. Now I can't wait to see the bloom. By the way I would take it your meeting anyway...I have yet to find an Orchid Club that didn't a show 'n' tell table at every meeting. The best to you and your upcoming "coming out" party.

Shakkai;

Good job on the Phrag! That's so exciting. I'm looking at a Jason Fischer seedling as my next purchase, so I totally understand your excitement on getting a spike.

I'm torn between Don and Gloria though. On the one hand, I'd really want to take it to the next meeting and so it off, On the other, I'd be totally crushed if it broke.

Keeping our fingers crossed....

Cheers.
Jim

Jim, Yes, I am of two minds myself. I guess if I knew there were somewhere safe to keep it - as we'll be outside in the garden - I would feel better about taking it with me.

Gloria, I am paranoid enough as it is that our new kitten is going to suddenly take a fancy to the plant and think its her new toy. I worry all day while I'm away at work!!

Having a seedling flower for the first time is such a rush! This is a much anticipated bloom - I'm so glad I can share the excitement I' feeling with all of you!

Well... the buds are really swelling now. Nearly one month on from when I first noticed the spike:

This is, so far, one of the most anticipated blooms I've ever had.... it is starting to colour up now...

Taking it to the show is a moot point now, as there is no way it will be open by Saturday. But maybe the next week!! Fingers crossed!

I don't know if they are all slow, but mine sure was! Mem Dick Clement. However, it was beautiful and had four blossoms, one after the other. I am sure waiting will be easier if you go buy another orchid.
