Phantasm...I knew you meant small(er) ...I was just curious in Phrag-terms what qualifies as compact...Like what are we talking about in terms of leaf span? 5-8", 12-14" etc...?

And Dorothy, that is a fantastic site for showing the hybrid parentage! Wonderful to show pictures of the parents alongside pictures of the offspring. Phragtastic! Once again...

Yvan,

Most phrags are not windowsill plants with the exception of the grassy leaf types like pearcei or plants like schlimii and fischeri. These plants and besseae can get leaves up to 10-12 inches long.

Cool...Thanks, Phantasm! Exactly what I was curious about.

Unfortunately, I don't have very large windows...

I've got a lot of info from the slipperorchidforum website from Tom Kalina, from Fox Valley orchid and here is his saying:
"...The major difference between Phrag. Jason Fischer and Phrag. Fox Valley Fireball is that Phrag. Fox Valley Fireball (Barbara LeAnn x Rosalie Dixler), has the species Phrag. fischeri in it's background - (Barbara LeAnn = fischeri x besseae). Phrag. fischeri tends to block the expression of yellow in it's hybrids, so the color of Fox Valley Fireball tends to be a little more red-purple than Jason Fischer, which lacks fischeri in it's breeding. I don't think you can go wrong with either one..."
Another quote from Paphy57, a moderator on that forum: "If you are looking for a deep red, then you should go with Fox Valley Fireball. It is the deepest red of all the Phrag. besseae hybrids."
Now I know what I want for my next orchid!!!

This is by far the best pictures of Phrag. Fox Valley Fireball that I found on the Internet:
