NOID Cymbidium
This is the only Cymbidium I've ever grown and bloomed. I inherited this plant from my step Father, who got it from his mother when she passed away. Apparently this was the only plant to survive those times. Anyway, I nursed it back to health for the past few years.
I grow it outside during the cold months and bring it in for the hottest months. I accidentally left it out in the freezing rain one night and the plant and buds were covered in ice. It didn't skip a beat!! I grow it in full sun from about mid-November to mid March.
Any thoughts on the background species/crosses?

Can't help on ID, but here's a link describing the experience of southern California grower Casa de las Orquideas that shows just how cold-resistant Cymbidiums can be.

I should have taken pics of this thing covered in ice, but instead I ran into the house as quickly as possible! lol
The same event killed my Cattleya intermedia, seen here: Cattleya intermedia - Orchid Board - Most Complete Orchid Forum on the web !

BTW- This plant looked exactly the same as those in Casa de las Orquideas ice pics. They're tough plants!

It appears to be an old 40+ year old hybrid but once a tag is lost, it it virtually impossible to correctly identify a flower. Just enjoy it for what it is, as you are obviously doing.
