Well you need a cool climate for winter, they generally need a temperature drop in winter. Here we have cold winters down to 0C and hot summers up to 43C.
If you live in the tropics then generally they don't grow well there. They need a night time temperature drop to grow well and they need a winter cool down for the spikes to develop properly. Well that's my opinion anyway.

Those are outstanding flowers. And the plant is very nice too. Often I've seen beautiful cymbidium flowers on plants that just look ratty, with long and twisted leaves (some of the large standard-size red-flowered cymbidiums seem to look this way). But the leaves on your plant give it the look of a fountain. Very nice--and congratulations on the flowering.

Cymbidiums have a habit of sometimes being ratty, even when grown well. We've been lucky with this one so far.
