What I do is resize the dimensions AND the dpi until I get it down to a file size that's under the file dimensions. I'm going to try resizing to a larger dimension with a smaller dpi. Stay tuned.

When photo is in gallery, and you bring it up to view, I choose the third choice, I think it's called medium (under the picture) to copy and paste. It makes a good size pic

What criteria is one to use in determining if one should enter as "beginner" or "advanced"?

If you take into account composition and analyze the shot before taking it I'd say you are advanced. Of you know and use f stop iso and aperture settings on your camera.

Ultimately, It depends one how you would like your photographs judged. If you'd like yours to be judges as an advanced entry, than enter accordingly
